The struggle is real. Ever since I started following American fashion bloggers such as Aimee Song I keep seeing them eating this bowl of goodness. This very bowl is the Acai bowl. Why the struggle? Well, I’ve been trying to get my hands on one for a while, and google led me to nowhere.
I happened to be at Boxpark one day after shopping at Astrid & Miyu for jewellery looking for something to drink. I stumbled into East London Juice, thinking it was a juice bar; they do sell juices but cold press ones. On their white sheets of paper handwritten was the acai bowl. At the time, I wasn’t too hungry to have one, but I made sure I went back again.
On a Sunday when I finished my errands I made a pit stop to East London Juice for that Acai Bowl. It’s a cramped spot with only side benches to sit in. There were a few people hogging tables for two just for a coffee.
Hearing the guy blitzing my acai I eagerly waited for him to bring it over. A beautiful bloom of vibrant colours filled the bowl, with a colourful flower for the finishing touches. Scattered sliced strawberries, melons, bananas, goji berries, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and coconut shavings. Beneath it all, a blitz up smoothie like texture married the rest of the toppings. As you can see all the superfoods are present with all the health benefits. So darn tasty, no wonder people are going crazy for an acai bowl. £7.50 may seem a bit much, but there are plenty of superfoods in the bowl that adds up to that price.
The search is over for my nearest since I visited I have managed to google and find more places in London for it. I shall try out the places and review them on my site.
