Greedy Cow Bakes Hackney
Greedy Cow bakes is the hot new bakery everyone is currently lusting over. Have you seen their Korean Milk doughnuts? Open three days a week, Fri to Sunday 12-5 pm, along Hackney Road. The top tip is to get there as early as possible as the weekends have long queues, and many items are sold out by the afternoon.
Owner
Nazia Yasmin is the brainchild behind Greedy Cow bakes, post covid lockdowns she rented a space in Hackney to fulfil customer orders. With the current social media buzz surrounding her doughnuts, thousands of customers queue wanting a piece.
On the menu at her bakery, you will find filled doughnuts, cakes, eclairs, cream horns and of course Korean milk doughnuts. Everything is handmade and made from scratch by Nazia.
At the time of the visit, most of the items were sold out and all I could get my hands on was the strawberry Korean Milk doughnut and the red velvet doughnut. Prices range from £4+.
Korean milk doughnuts
Korean milk doughnuts are whipped milk cream, chopped fruits, wedged between the dough. Dusted off with sugar and powdered sugar. I like the lightness of the milk cream, but feel that more strawberries could have been added in.
Red velvet doughnut
Red velvet doughnut, I know a lot of people rave about the Korean milk doughnut, but the regular doughnut was the winner for me. The exterior is fried until a light crisp, with each bite you have the crispiness and fluffiness of the outside. The vanilla cream had the right balance of sweetness. I would certainly go back for more doughnuts.
