Day 5
From Kerosene Creek we drove back to Auckland back to our Airbnb location. The next day we headed to the spa for a girly day with our bride to be and ate lunch. Lemon, lime & bitters are something the Kiwi’s love to drink. Since it was one of the only nights left in Auckland we decided to head into town for the night.
Pescado
What I’ve noticed in New Zealand that most restaurant and bars close quite an early evening. We had some difficulty looking for places that open after 8 pm. We came across pescado online serving up tapas. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a let-down with the group, and we were glad to only get 1-2 dishes each.

Giapo
Moving on, I found Giapo online it is most famous for the spectacular ice cream sculptures. When we arrived at the gelato parlour, Giapo was quite busy but we managed to find some space to sit. The server gave us a mini taster of the flavours on offer since we came all this way. I knew I had to get the colossal squid costing $28 a pop.
I chose to have my ice cream sculpture to have NZ hokey pokey and kiss kiss flavour. Most of the menu consists of chocolate rich flavours. Hokey pokey is a honeycomb toffee flavour whilst kiss kiss had a chocolatey hazelnut profile.
My friend S opted for the selfie cone $25, a gigantic chocolate frame coated in gold dusting big enough to fit your face in the frame. You will be amazed by the craftsmanship of the sculpture prepared to be wowed and be very full on chocolate pieces and ice cream. The whole experience in Giapo was wonderful and somewhere I recommend to go to Auckland.
