Luke Jerram’s Mars: War & Peace with Kensington and Chelsea Festival 2023
For the third year running Kensington and Chelsea Festival presents Luke Jerram’s Mars: War & Peace art installation. As always Luke’s pieces are an awing experience, with sound composition by BAFTA accompanying the art in stunning backdrop locations. Kicking off at St John the Baptist Church. The Mars installation will be touring three locations over the next few weeks.
Mars: War & Peace
Measuring seven metres in diameter, the artwork features 120 dpi detailed NASA imagery* of the Martian surface. At an approximate scale of 1:1 million, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 10 kilometres of the surface of Mars.
Yesterday I was invited down to the launch party and got to speak to Luke Jerram about his installation and previous artworks. With Vocalshacks singing and local Syrian food for catering. I’m a big fan of Luke Jerram artworks, the Gia Earth, Museum of the Moon, and the street pianos around London.
