Hello Kitty pop up at Tombo
Tombo x Hello Kitty
Tombo Fitzrovia has just opened up a new place at Fitzrovia. Making it their third space in London. Tombo thrives on being matcha specialists with a dictated matcha bar and other different goodies on offer, from baked cakes, ice cream, teas etc. The food menu has come a long way since my first encounter Tombo in South Kensington.
Limited edition
Another excuse to visit Tombo Fitzrovia is the limited-edition Hello Kitty menu. Ever since I was young I loved the iconic Hello Kitty and all the other Sanrio characters. Downloading wallpapers for my desktop collecting toys and stationery. As I say many times, you can never be old for Hello Kitty. I even went to a Hello Kitty café when I was in Seoul.
Tombo operates a walk-in only, with no bookings in advance. Visiting during lunch hour, it wasn’t too busy. Seated with the menu on the table I knew what to order. The Hello Kitty poke with salmon and matcha berry sundae. Poke bowls are a big thing in London, taking Hawaii seafood preparation and combining it with rice and chopped vegetables.
Bad service
I suffered from a bad experience with the seat in service. It was disorganised, the staff was not attentive, and trying to grab their attention was difficult. They seemed to serve other tables that arrived later than me. In the end, I had to go up to the counter to place an order. Other tables suffered the same treatment where the waiter forgot to give them the sauces that accompany the poke bowls, only halfway when they finished did he give them the sauce.
Hello Kitty bowls
The Hello Kitty poke bowl brightens up my mood, black and white rice moulded into the face of Hello Kitty. Surrounding area, fresh juicy salmon meat cubes, edible flowers, Hello Kitty cutouts of carrots, beetroots, edamame peas, spiralised cucumbers and you get to keep the Hello Kitty saucepot as a souvenir.
For dessert
There’s no doubt the matcha berry sundae satisfied the taste buds. Tombo matcha ice cream is one of my favourites in London. The soft-serve ice cream has an icy texture and no milk in the formula, berry coulis pair together is the perfect touch. Hurry the Hello Kitty menu is on for a limited time and there is also Hello Kitty merchandise to purchase from the restaurant.
