Macellaio RC Soho Review: A Carnivore’s Paradise with Halal Options
Introduction
If you’re a meat lover seeking an extraordinary dining experience in the heart of London’s Soho, look no further than Macellaio RC. The air crackles with the scent of sizzling steak, the aroma as heady as a fine wine. Macellaio RC Soho isn’t merely a restaurant; it’s a theatre of meat, a stage where the finest steak cuts of Italian beef take centre stage.
The Dining Experience
One of the most captivating aspects of dining at Macellaio RC is the immersive experience it offers. The experience begins, not with a menu, but with a spectacle. A butcher’s counter, a tableau of marbled flesh, beckons you closer. It’s a primal scene, a reminder of where our food comes from. You walk in and it’s like you’ve stepped into a butcher’s shop, but one where the meat’s not just for sale, it’s for you.
Our beef parade adventure
They lay out the raw product, a parade of prime cuts, and you pick your poison. I went with the Beef Paillard and Revolver. For starters, Focaccia al Formaggio, Beef Tonnato, olives and cocktails.
We start with the Focaccia al Formaggio, a pillowy cloud of bread, warm and yielding, its crust crackly and golden. Topped with Mortadella “Levoni” and Pistachio from Bronte. It’s a simple thing, but it’s made with care, a testament to the kitchen’s commitment to quality.
The Beef Tonnato follows, a classic Italian dish, reimagined here with a modern twist. The John Ridgeway wagyu beef, tender and rare, is draped in a silky tuna sauce, a rich and savoury delight.
The Steaks at Macellaio RC
We opted for the Beef Paillard, a delicate dish featuring tender wagyu beef, cooked to medium rare. It was a study in contrasts: gently seared outside, a marron red but juicy and buttery on the inside.
The Revolver
The Revolver, a bone-in rib-eye, was another highlight. A behemoth of a steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, and the bone marrow, rich and decadent, was an ideal accompaniment with roast. It was a modern-day take on St. John’s restaurant’s classic dish.
Sides
For sides, we opted for Roast Carrots: A simple yet elegant side dish, perfectly cooked and seasoned with a touch of sweetness from the honey.

Truffle and Parmesan Chips: These decadent, crispy, and flavourful chips feature mountains of parmesan piled onto the ridged, thinly cut chips.
To finish
Tiramisu: A creamy, coffee-infused dessert, a timeless classic.
Ice cream with olive oil—we know Dua Lipa has made this combo famous, but others have come up with it before her.
Halal Options at Macellaio RC
For Muslim diners, Macellaio RC offers a selection of halal dishes, ensuring everyone can enjoy the restaurant’s exceptional cuisine.
Conclusion on Macellaio RC
Macellaio RC Soho is a true gem in the London dining scene. Its commitment to quality, innovative approach to dining, and welcoming atmosphere make it a standout choice for meat lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned carnivore or simply looking for a memorable meal, Macellaio RC is sure to impress.
