Kam’s Roast Goose – One Michelin Star Roast Goose in Wan Chai, Hong Kong
After touching down in Hong Kong, I barely had time to catch my breath before heading out for my first meal. With my luggage dropped off at the Burlington hotel in Wan Chai, there was only one destination in mind — Kam’s Roast Goose (甘牌燒鵝), a legendary name among Hong Kong’s roast meat institutions and holder of one Michelin star since 2015.

By the time I arrived around 7–8 pm, the restaurant was buzzing with locals and tourists alike. Some menu items had already sold out for the evening, which only heightened my anticipation. My friendly server laughed when I told her I’d come straight from the airport just to dine here — and honestly, I wasn’t joking.
A Legacy of Cantonese Flavour
Kam’s Roast Goose traces its roots back to 1942, when Mr Kam Shui Fai first opened the family’s original roast meat restaurant. Now operated by the third generation, the Kam family continues to uphold the art of Cantonese roasting that has made their name synonymous with tradition, consistency, and quality.
The Wan Chai branch, established by Hardy Kam, has maintained the Michelin standard since its opening — a rare feat in Hong Kong’s competitive dining scene.

The Famous Roast Goose
The star of the show is, of course, the signature roast goose. Each bite of the tender meat is succulent and full of flavour, with skin that glistens under the lights. The balance of crispy, caramelised skin and juicy, rich meat creates an indulgent harmony — smoky, savoury, and slightly sweet.

The goose is roasted to perfection in-house, ensuring that distinct Cantonese depth that comes only from decades of refinement. It was exactly the kind of meal I needed after a long flight — comforting, nostalgic, and deeply satisfying.
Worth the Hype
Kam’s Roast Goose has earned and retained its Michelin star for nearly a decade, proving that the restaurant’s quality and consistency are second to none. From the warm service to the perfectly executed roast meats, this dining institution embodies Hong Kong’s culinary excellence.
If you plan to visit, go early in the evening — by 7 or 8 pm, popular items often sell out. The restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and queues can form quickly.
A fitting first meal in Hong Kong — and one that set the tone for the culinary adventures ahead.
