STK London – Star Deal

STK London
STK London

Drawn to the outdoor Radio Rooftop Bar and New York Crave Studios export steakhouses STK restaurants housed at Melia hotel group. Bookatable star deal brought me to STK London. STK concept brings a modern steakhouse with a comfy black and white elegant chic lounge area. The dark and moody sleek environment smoked mirrors and theatrical lighting ease you into the perfect ambience as you dine away.

STK London lays in-between Covent Garden and Aldwych area, filled with theatre land and major arts and cultural centre Somerset House. ME hotel is not that obvious to spot unless you see the sign. STK London restaurant is first spot you pass when you walk in. Staff promptly took us to our table, being a Sunday late afternoon very few people were around. Usually when I book deals via Bookatable I usually have to prompt the waiter to bring out the special menu for the deal. The waiter was well informed that we booked the star deal and asked if we wanted our arrival cocktail straight away.

As we sent her away, we looked at the menu the Bookatable star deal was a 3-course meal with a cocktail, for £35. D wanted the tuna sashimi so I opted for Lil Burgers.

The waiter came back with our cocktails the STK signature cocktail is not for the faint hearted as it’s full of strong vodka booze, mixed with passion fruit juice shaken in a martini glass.

Another waiter popped out of nowhere with a strong smelling brioche, D asked what’s the stinky smell. I had to explain the smell was coming from the brioche bread that had a melted blue cheese. The bread was easy to tear, a green dip accompanied the dish, and a blended mix of olive oil and vinegar had gritty bits.

Lil BRGs
Lil BRGs

Starters arrived, my Lil’ BRGs turned out to be two mini sliders of wagyu beef. Now the last time I had a wagyu beef burger at The Dorchester, I was truly disappointed wagyu meat, being so overly hyped. These Lil’ BRGs beauties truly defined a taste of paradise. A big thick patty melted molten cheese pressed into a sesame bun with black and white seeds. The special sauce made up most of the incredible flavour, tangy mayonnaise diffused with truffle oil.

Tuna sashimi

D tuna sashimi was another winning, usually when I have tuna sashimi I can taste metallic. The tuna slice is more of light pinky in colour then the usually deep reddish colour you see in Japanese restaurants. Although it came with crispy chilli and ginger, I barely could taste it and we both question what the green puree was.

USDA feather steak and prawns

Onto the mains, we couldn’t go to a steakhouse and not eat steak. STK London offers all sized USDA beef cuts. The star deal menu has 150g USDA feather steak served with grilled prawns and their special STK steak sauce. I was in love with the STK sauce each bit of steak and prawns I simply covered it all over. How does STK steak compare to the likes of Hawksmoor, and Goodmans? I was quite impressed; USDA select cut had very little marbling, a little tough but had good flavour.

150g of meat weren’t enough for us and I order extras for £4 each, so along with the meat we had our potatoes. Crisp truffle Parmesan chunky cut chips and creamy mustard mash.

Onto the final part of our meal desserts! There were 2-3 waiters serving us that night and they shouted out about their special STK snickers dessert.

Upon arrival, the dish looked all pretty and carefully crafted, cloudy peanut butter mousse, something that resemble a bar of chocolate, filled with caramel and vanilla filling. Roasted peanut and salted caramel crisp thin stood out the most.

Lemon meringue pie

Lemon meringue pie came in a deconstructed form, a lego brick mould and white cigar looking rolls. Lemon curd wasn’t sharp enough and sadly I have to say both desserts were disappointing and lack flavour.

Overall the starters and mains were really good, staff gave five-star services, and the £35 star deal is worth booking.
